My summer internship or training has been like a long journey. Which started with an email that Osmosys were looking for interns when they came to my university for recruitment. The company prepared a 1month internship training program, to allow everyone to know the atmosphere as well as the working behavior inside the company.

Osmosys is a well-established organization since 2004 that is situated in India, Canada, and London. They aim to provide design based, client centric services in consultancy and implementation to help and raise the value of multiple businesses. We provide digital transformation, Microsoft Dynamics 365 solutions, etc.

The month started with an introductory meeting with the mentor who introduced us a little bit about the company, as well as what they were expecting out of us. What they wanted was to mold us into a suitable candidate capable of working with them in the long term, a candidate who is hard working, organized with a problem-solving mind, and good working etiquette.

Introduction to CS50

Now, we were introduced to a free course provided by Harvard University on the Edx platform, which is a basic course that covers the key understanding of core programming concepts and data structures. It covers a wide variety of languages like C, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, SQL, etc.

It also includes a wide range of problem sets with two difficulty levels that depend on the conceptual understanding of the individual. Throughout the month, the company evaluated my performance in the course and its problem sets. As well as assigned more tasks to cover each day.

With frequent progress calls, evaluation, and mentoring, which led to improvement in concepts and topic understanding, I saw fast progress in terms of solving the problems/tasks and time management. The progress calls also included result analysis and discussions to help in improving the solutions and approaches.

Interview and Extended Offer Letter

After the CS50 course, I went through an interview process with the hiring team of Osmosys, where they evaluated me in terms of knowledge, working spirit, programming concepts, etc. After the interview process, I was offered an extended offer letter for 1 year of internship with Osmosys.

Introduction to Import.IO

A web data extraction tool that works on the extraction of ecommerce website data. And extracts as well as serve the analytical data on the search terms, categories, individual products, and customer reviews, to assist the tracking of sales and market of any ecommerce business. This project has 2 phases — Web Extraction and Quality Analysis.

The developers perform the Web Extraction part where all the useful and important public details of an ecommerce website are extracted and stored in the database. Which is then passed to the QA team for Quality Inspection.

In this project, I have worked for around 2–3 weeks on QA understanding and manual validation. And I have also worked on understanding the work of developers in web extraction.

Personal Growth and Challenges

I faced multiple challenges while managing multiple tasks, finding an optimal approach to every problem, managing time to complete assigned tasks and meeting deadlines but it allowed me to grow and learn soft skills required in the industry like analytical ability, presentational skills, and problem-solving approaches.
